Nesting

We have a Robin's nest in the trellis just outside of our house.
She returns every year.
After rebuilding her nest and laying her eggs
the mom-to-be settles in for the long wait.
She patiently guards and warms her eggs.
We try not to disturb her.

Here are her three little treasures.

I love this nest.
I have not met the owner face to face yet.
I have only seen the tail end of her.
This wonderful creation is part hay and bits of old hydrangea blooms from last year's garden.

I am working on a new project for JingleNog that we will be launching shortly. I asked Coco to sit for a portrait in her JingleNog tee shirt. She was thrilled and while sitting proud and pretty decided to offer her paw wave greeting to everyone. No treats offered. Who could ask for a better dog.

Wisteria

A shot of the latest blooms - Wisteria, thick with the morning rain.
The Emerald Rain Forest is the new name for this surreal period of constant rain or overcast sky that we have been living in. Rain is in the forecast again for tomorrow.

Enchanted Forest

All of the rain has left the flowers and the earth with a thick dewy moss filled mist. The air is ripe for quick sightings and glimpes into ancient and earlier times. The sprites and fairies are hovering just out of reach, behind the blooms and in the rocky and grassy nooks. Sir Galahad and Guinevere are out for a ride. Heathcliff is on the moors. It is all there. All of the senses confirm that it is real and very much alive but seeing is in the mind.

Isn't He Lovely

My husband & daughters do not care for this poor fellow at all.
If they hear that he is actually Coco in a turtle suit perhaps they can warm to him.
Isn't She Lovely

Emily took this photo of Coco.
It looks like her mug shot or passport photo.
Isn't she lovely?
Part dog, part weasel, a bit of mouse, a touch of lamb and a dram of alien....dog of my heart. ...

First Bloom

The first bloom signals the true end to winter.
Spring is rebirth and new beginnings. After the long sleep the earth awakes full of energy and color. There is the initial shock and awe as nature stirs and flourishes; first in contrast and then erasing the muted neutral landscape of winter.

Love Is In The Air....

Struck by the arrow,
Pierced by the bow,
Our damsel is smitten,
and in need of some mittens.
Long way off and now ended,
A year and a lifetime to go....

Crystal Tree

An amazing thing happened the other day. In the early hours of the morning this beautiful crystal tree had come to life on my wall. Never before had this happened. The sun hit off the chandelier's crystals at just the right points I guess, creating this miraculous mural. I was so much in awe of the vision that I failed to figure out what had created the tree trunk. There are no trees in a direct line with the window. The effect was so breathtaking delicate and ethereal. I found myself just barely awake and inside of a fairy tale in the Crystal Castle Hall of Mirrors. Underground ice igloos, crystal roots, winter solstice, miles and miles of snow, snowflakes, blizzard, the Druids, Antarctica, and peace, a huge wave of peace all ran in random patterns in my head and through me. I still cannot express it in words and the photo failed to capture but the feeling remains. Someday I hope to find the way to share it.

Take Flight...

I wish.
I may.
I wish.
I might.
I hope.
I dream.
I listen.
I learn.
I glance.
I glean.
I wonder.
I worry.
I wax.
I wane.
I step,
I turn,
I fly to the moon .................

Fordie's Googlie Guy...

My nephew Ford loves monsters. I promised him one a few weeks ago and I have not delivered. I hope that you like him. He has a few other friends if this Googlie Guy is not what you had in mind.
Let me know...
